Review of the previous medium-term management plan, “New Horizon 2010,” and the Yosoro Project

Under “New Horizon 2010,” which covered three years from April 2008, we sought to increase our corporate value by focusing on three main strategies - growth, stability, and the environment - and achieving certain goals in each area of business.

However, the Lehman Shock in September 2008 and the economic confusion that followed resulted in great changes to the business environment surrounding the NYK Group. In response, we implemented the Yosoro (Steady Ahead!) Emergency Structural Reform Project in January 2009 and revised “New Horizon 2010” in October 2009.

About 50,000 of the NYK Group's employees worked to achieve the Yosoro Project, and as a result, cost reductions exceeding 100 billion yen were achieved.
